The Osogbo Book Club, a distinguished literary community founded in 2012 under the auspices of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW), has announced the establishment of an annual lecture series dedicated to the memory of the late Dr. Remi Adedokun. This monumental initiative pays tribute to the remarkable legacy of Dr. Adedokun, a multifaceted luminary whose contributions to literature, education, and the arts have left an indelible mark on Nigeria's cultural landscape.

In a statement by the President of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW), Wole Adedoyin said, Dr. Remi Ademola Adedokun was not just a scholar; he was a trailblazer in the realms of academia, theater administration, and creative expression. His accomplishments encompassed a prolific repertoire of television and radio plays, including notable works such as "The Daughters of the Skies," "One Step to Paradise," and "The Goddess Called Woman," a captivating volume of poetry that resonates with readers to this day. Furthermore, his literary output extended to invaluable educational resources such as "Theater Production Handbook," "Arts Administration in Contemporary Nigeria," and "Community Theater Practice in Nigeria," serving as vital references for students across universities.

Dr. Adedokun's enduring commitment to nurturing young literary talents played a pivotal role in the foundation of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW). His visionary leadership translated into the hosting and sponsorship of numerous workshops and literary events that have fortified the literary landscape of Nigeria. Moreover, his generosity extended to the provision of his residence on Ebrohime Street at the University of Ibadan, which served as the National Secretariat of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW).

The Remi Adedokun Memorial Lecture stands as a befitting tribute to his remarkable legacy. AZA ARTISTS AND WRITERS MOVEMENT CHANGES NAME TO ULLI BEIER SOCIETY

 


The Aza Artists and Writers Movement, a renowned platform dedicated to promoting the works of artists and writers in our country, is proud to announce its new name: the Ulli Beier Society. The name change reflects the movement's commitment to honoring the legacy of Ulli Beier, a renowned art historian, curator, and promoter of African arts and literature.

Established in 2013 by the late Busari Olaniyi Agbolade (Painter), Adegboyega Tajudeen (Sculptor), and Wole Adedoyin (Writer), the Ulli Beier Society serves as a meeting point for both established and upcoming artists and writers. It provides a platform for them to showcase, read, mentor, enhance, hone, and publicize their works, fostering a vibrant and inclusive creative community.

The new name, Ulli Beier Society, pays homage to Ulli Beier, a highly influential figure in the promotion of African arts and culture. Beier's dedication to nurturing artistic talent and fostering cross-cultural dialogue resonates deeply with the mission of the society. The name change symbolizes the movement's renewed commitment to the ideals espoused by Beier throughout his career.

It has showcased the creative expressions of individuals such as Adegboyega Tajudeen, Busari Olaniyi Agbolade, Christopher Samuel, Mustapha Sherif Abiodun, Chibueze Avril Nathaniel, and many others. Osogbo Book Club Congratulates Abiodun Oloyede on His Appointment as Acting Registrar of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree

 

OSOGBO BOOK CLUB CONGRATULATES ABIODUN OLOYEDE ON HIS APPOINTMENT AS ACTING REGISTRAR OF OSUN STATE POLYTECHNIC, IREE


 

The Osogbo Book Club has expressed her delight and offered her sincere congratulations to Mr. Abiodun Oloyede on his well-deserved appointment.

The Founder of the Club and President of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) acknowledged that the appointment of Mr. Oloyede as the Acting Registrar of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, was a perfect fit for his exceptional abilities and vast experience.

Governor Ademola Adeleke's decision to appoint Mr. Oloyede was met with widespread approval, as he has consistently demonstrated his commitment and dedication to the literary community in Osun State. The Club's Founder commended the governor for recognizing the invaluable contributions of Mr. Oloyede and selecting him for this important role.

The official appointment letter, addressed to the Rector of the polytechnic, was delivered by Mr. M.A.K. Jimoh, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education. As per the letter, Mr. Oloyede assumed his duties immediately upon receipt of the appointment.

It is worth mentioning that Mr. Abiodun Oloyede played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Osogbo Book Club. During his tenure as Chairman of ANA Osun State, he graciously accepted an invitation to be the first guest speaker at the Club's inaugural workshop, which took place in 2012 at the Osun State Branch of the National Library of Nigeria.

The Osogbo Book Club considers Mr. Oloyede's appointment as a significant milestone not only for him but also for the literary community in Osun State.
